I have been trying to learn about the Whipples who came to French Gulch around 1855. I have found excerpts of a letter written by Hannah Read Whipple in which she writes that two of her sons have been in French Gulch for several year(1857-59, & 1861 ) Also that two of her daughters, Alice and Maria, have come to visit them. The daughters later marry here and raise families. I don’t have more info. than that. But my ggrandfather was with the sons and I’ve been try ing to learn how they all got here, etc. Ggrandfather, Milton Daniel Read, was nephew to Hannah Read Whipple. Any info/ help would be greatly appreciated….
